Snipergeddon 2018

Mill Creek Rifle Club

Sat November 17th 2018 7:30 am – Sun November 18th 2018 6:00 pm (CST)

OVERVIEW:
The annual Snipergeddon shooting competition will once again be held at Mill Creek Rifle Club in Desoto Kansas on November 17 and 18 of this year. Unlike past competitions, this year’s the competition will span two days to help accommodate more shooter, provide more shooting opportunities and increase the number of shooting categories. All shooters are welcome to shoot both days for twice the fun!
LOCATION:
Mill Creek Rifle Club: 7215 Gardner Rd, De Soto, KS 66018. Check-in is in the clubhouse.
START TIME:
Please arrive no later than 7:00 am to sign in, pick up your optional T-shirt, listen to the mandatory competition briefing and sign a weaver. We will start shooting at 7:30 am.
RULES:
The rules have not changed. They are simple: “Hit a gong and advance, miss a gong 5 times and you are out.” More specifically all competitors will get assigned to one of six groups. The shooter’s group number corresponds to the gong he/she will shoot. Furthermore, flights will subdivide each group. Competitor will shoot in flights round robin. When a competitor hits a gong (we will have electronic hit detectors on each gong) he/she will advance to the next yard line and stop shooting. If he/she miss they will have a total of five chances to hit the gong. Once everyone is finished shooting the flight gets off the shooting line and the next flight sets up. This year we will have 6 gongs set up hence we will have 6 flights shooting simultaneously. It is imperative that all competitors listen to their assigned group RO for directions.
SCORING:
The scoring systems rewards shooter for accuracy i.e. first round hits. And for each successive distance the point values double. For instance at 500 yards, a first round hit is 16 point, second: 8 point, third: 4 points…. At 600 yards the hit values double: 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 etc. Each person’s total score will determine their overall category placing.
FORMAT:
Shooting will start at 300 yards. The 300 yard distance is not scored and shooters have only 3 shots to hit the gong. This is a test to determine if everyone’s equipment works correctly. In years past people have complained about starting this close to the targets however each year there are competitors incapable of hitting the 24” gong from 300 yards! After 300 yards we will advance to the 500 yard line and repeat the process. From the 500 yard line we will increase the distance until there are no shooters left, it’s too dark, or we run out of space. Field conditions will dictate shooting distances. We foresee shooting in 100 yard increments between 500 and 900 yards. The spacing should increase beyond 900 yards.
